In this post going to tell you about Basic method to understand 3D Animation
Before start to learn 3d animation , some peoples are going to learn 2D animation or they went to learn animation techniques from books or institute. After well trained they are starting to learn 3d animation. But some peoples are directly jump in to the 3D animation field, because of that they have to do so much hard work to understand the animation techniques. But this kind of peoples taking to much time to get into the field. Only few peoples are having excellent imagine power through this they are starting the 3D Animation career. I can tell anyone they will succeed. Because before animating the character you should know what will be the next step , some people they animate the character and then figured out what will be the next move. but who have the well imagine & memory power they will do very smoothly and without getting a tension. I am not saying we don't have the imagination power,we have but we don't know how to use it. I hope this method will help to use your imagine.
Four years before,I decided to become game designer. I need to learn modelling , illustration, animation, programming etc., First i started to learn 3D animation. To be honor i never went to learn animation course. I was searched tutorial videos in YouTube and i got it also. Rigging and skinning is taken 6 months to understand. After that i tried to animate the model but my animations are worst. Each time i got boring to animate. After that i figured out some method to understand the timing, feel and realistic. May be you should know this before making a character expression some cartoonists will take reference from own face by using mirror. Same here but little advanced.
Here is the method....
Step 1:
I Fixed Video camera in my room.
Step 2:
I used white cloth for my background.
Step 3:
I started to act in front my camera (scene: some crazy facial reaction ).
step 4:
Then I converted video into image sequence like 24fps . I got 3600 jpeg image in my computer.
Note: it doesn't mean you have to set camera like me, you can also use scene from films
Step 5 :
I created plane in Maya , and I linked that image sequence to the plane.
Note: You must put the sequence into the maya because this is the only way to learn and understand the technique.
Step 6 :
After that I started to animate in each frame exactly what happens in the image sequence.
Note: If you animate each and every single frame it will take too much time, try to figure out the frame counts. I used 15 counts, sometimes 5, sometimes 20 its depends on your scene.
Step 7:
When I finished that animation, I am so happy because output was excellent, but still i don't understand the techniques.
Step 8:
So many times I trained with this method. Each time animations are excellent but i don't understand how its work. And i also tried to animate without sequence , usually my animations are worst.
After 3 months later, I understand the timing, behavior, expression, and realistic with this method. Finally I figured out what was my mistakes in past. And then i tried to develop my skills and get practiced. Before start your animation you need to have reference to do the movements and get the timing. Timing is important because of that only feels and realistic's are missing. Each bones are connected to every frame. You should animate the each bones on perfect or correct frame, if you miss that expression time will not perfect, Because of that it will look good but not excellent. You have to figure out your negatives on your own, once if you do that, you can animate without shake your hand. I will guaranty this method will help you to understand your mistakes. Finally after years of practice, I tried to do jet lee kung fu from once upon a time in china and i made it also.
